Come on, now.

We will never understand the world as it "is". The means with which we perceive the world are flawed, and so it stands that our perceptions are flawed.

All our senses are lame. Our eyes can perceive only a fraction of the electromagnetic spectrum and our ears can catch only a small window of frequencies. Our sense of touch is utilitarian at best and dogs have a better sense of smell than us.

(As for taste, I don't find it relevant).

Twinkle, twinkle

People like stars. Bright pinholes in the curtain of night. Pretty to look at, very romantic.

It kills the mood for a lot of people to think about stars rationally. Typically referred to as "burning balls of gas". I don't know...even from a scientific standpoint, stars are pretty romantic.

Think about it; stars are produced by fusion reactions among pairs of hydrogen atoms. Through their union, they release an energy so bright that it pierces the cold void of space and reaches out to us as a twinkle that is vast distances, billions of lifetimes away.

If two specks of meager existence could do this, could two people manage to make their love known on such a scale?
